Confessions of a psychic newbie

Four years ago I sat at my laptop and blinked.

Like when something hits you a ton of donuts.
Or when Homer Simpson has a brainwave.

OMG, I just set up my psychic biz – NOW WHAT???

That was four years ago and between that slow Homer-esque blink, lots of cake and now – a lot’s happened including you, here, reading this. (Thank you, by the way, it’s an honour to serve you psychic treats each week.)

This weeks #realtalk looks back over four years, six UK tutors, $45,000 in training and about as many cupcakes

Four years and 783 cupcakes ago,

I had no idea what came next in January 2015 after I setting up the FB page.

I sat back and thought, “Now what”?

I had zero idea of how to run a psychic service online, but I had a frantic ants-in the-pants hunger to learn as much as I could.

Someone said you need a mailing list so that got set up, and in return for an email, I gave everyone a free 20-minute reading. (Yeah I know – did I mention I was keen?)

Word spread and soon someone Internet famous told the world about it and I was swamped.

Meanwhile, I got myself a psychic mentor, because I knew proper training was the way to fast track and I was fast-tracking!

That mentor was world respected UK medium Tony Stockwell, and so began 18 months of training, eventually meeting and working with some of the best of Australian and UK mediums.

So many times I almost gave up.
When reading clients said ‘no’
When no one wanted to book me
And when I didn’t even believe in myself.

But the hunger kept going, and somehow I kept turning up.

The 18-month mentorship wound up and I found new UK mentors to learn from.

They helped me see that the power within and this work is as natural as breathing when we connect to someone else.

Even after four years, I still get nervous before a reading, and I still can’t eat before going up as guest medium in a spiritual church, but now the nerves act as an encouragement to do well and with deep breaths I can use that energy for details and info that’s going to really help someone.

Fast forward to 2019:

And here we are. I’ll always be serving up psychic treats in this blog and on the  #realtalk newsletter, as well as making fun videos to train for free on YouTube. (Subscribe and hit the little bell to be first to see any new ones)

There’s 5.5k savvy women in the Psychic Playground facebook Community – still the best place to feel understood, confirmed and among friends in the whole of the internet. (adn that’s for free too)

And lastly, there’s the lil ol’FB page, where the magic happened four and a bit years ago.

What takes your fancy?

How to choose an oracle deck

Let’s not overthink it. You can buy up all the decks you come across, but that gets expensive and your partner is going you weird looks, you can follow these tips:
When shopping for oracle cards in person it’s lovely to feel them. Hold them in your hands, flick through them and pay attention to how they feel to you.

Do they feel right? Because they’ll be spending not of time in your hands. Are they too big for you to manage? They need to have that ‘Goldilocks, just right feel’.

Look for a deck that has as little text on the cards as possible.

Michael Hutchence is an earthbound spirit

As a professional psychic I get my share of weird, but this wins the prize: The lead singer of INXS, the very handsome Michael Hutchence is an earthbound spirit, and the test of a psychic is whether they can connect with him.

4 grounding tips for intuitives

When stuff feels overwhelming, but you need to check in with guidance NOW – stop and drop. As an intuitive we learn not to be splattered over the universe if we want to function. Being splattered is draining. Here are 4 tips for grounding…

Straight up psychic -

zero fluff.

Semi fictional story about me: In 1994, I had a midlife crisis, got a boob job and moved to Byron Bay.

Quickly realized there was nothing there but more boob jobs and white furniture, so I escaped faux-spiritual beach culture, went to Peru, and experimented with DMT.

While there, fell in love with a Shaman who was really a plumber from Padstow, but stayed because of attachment issues.

After following a raven out of the jungle, I holed up in a Scandi-style Air B’n’B and finally got enlightened.

Parts of this story are true.

Make it stop

Make it stop

When spiritual growth happens too fast and it feels overwhelming and you just need it to slow down a little bit. You know, like you want it, you're on the spiritual path, you want to grow your psychic skills, your mediumship skills, you want to have all now, now, now,...

Am I psychic?

Am I psychic?

Mainstream religion and the New Age actively sell the idea psychic ability exists outside of you, or only to a (chosen by them) few. This is a lie. Being psychic is part of being human, so ‘Am I psychic?” YES!
