The truth about Spirit Guides

by | Jul 11, 2017 | Mediumship, Spirit Guides | 5 comments

Here’s the truth about Spirit Guides: Connecting to them is harder than the gurus make out. They want to tell you you’re just one course/upgrade/activation/session away from meeting them. I wish that were true.

Here’s another truth about Spirit Guides: I have no clue who my guides are, let alone their names, or fashionable pedigree and I’ve been at this a while now.

Don’t fall into the gaslighting trap of feeling inferior because you haven’t met them yet, in fact, consider the idea that you’ve already met!

Perhaps when you both were spirit, perhaps when really young before you were told off for make believe or having invisible friends. Our modern culture tends to emphasize the messenger over the message – which means we pay more attention to the who rather than the what.

Spirit guides are way less concerned with their individual identity as they’re working actively to blend with the greater. They are often very humble and never share their names, which is why many great mediums in the past named their guides, not the other way around.

Not knowing who your spirit guides are is OK.

By refocusing on the message rather than the messenger, their presence can be felt and their influence acted on because we know what to do when they are around. Pay attention!

How much ego could be attached to having a guide with a grand name who had a grand heritage that was hard to actually prove anyway? One of our main jobs as psychics, energy workers and mediums is to stay real. To have our feet in touch with the earth so as to be of service to others. And that means keeping the ego firmly checked.

It’s tempting to rush into a guided meditation to meet a wise old person and receive a spiritual bauble and adopt them as a spirit guide.

Guided meditations to meet your spirit guide can be comforting but lack evidence. The experience of the guide does not last and has less to do with a genuine connection than with the imagination stepping in to fill in the gaps our superconscious mind hasn’t quite reached.

Good ol ‘conscious mind!  We love it in day to day events, but when it comes to connecting with Spirit (and that’s mediumship, btw,) it’s one the things we train hard to let interfere. Here’s an interview I gave about Spirit Guides and what kinds there are:

The guide to Spirit Guides

If you’re not feeling too despondent about how to meet your spirit guide, there’s a free resource to help you decide about your own experience.

Find out if an animal can be a Guide and how to get better messages. Remember they’re here for our spiritual growth and will have that mission first – so sometimes they won’t be answering ALL the questions, especially if it’s about where to eat or getting that perfect park. Goodness, I feel the exact same way. I know my guides are there, I assume their presence. I acknowledge that I have spiritual support guiding me in the work I do. Don’t need to name them or understand “who” they are, because I feel that’s just something to satisfy my conscious mind. So I really prefer having them be “anonymous” – knowing that on a soul level I am perfectly aware of precisely who these beings are, and that they’ve got it covered. My job is to listen to my intuition and inner voice so that I hear their guidance and direction. I also encourage my clients to develop their own relationship with their guides…which really is developing their relationship with their own intuition. So amen to everything you said here.

I’ve always wondered about the things moving in the corner of my eye, seeing the curtains move, or things physcially moving around me and thought is this my guides trying to get me attention or a naughty spirit having a laugh. This usually happens when I have a big question or problem I need to solve, so using my intuition and growing the muscle is what I need to practice, thanks Denise.

I had to laugh when I saw this post. Spirit guides work in amazing ways. Ive been getting lots of signs that I need to work closer to my guides and this post is a perfect confirmation that this is the right direction. Thankyou x

Thank you for this post!!! This was 100% sent to me by my spirit guides because in the comments I see someone with the same name as one of mine. I guess I was pressuring myself to meet them.

Clear your psychic blocks

Wanna know my biggest psychic block? Trust. Especially trusting psychic insights.

Straight up psychic -

zero fluff.

Semi fictional story about me: In 1994, I had a midlife crisis, got a boob job and moved to Byron Bay.

Quickly realized there was nothing there but more boob jobs and white furniture, so I escaped faux-spiritual beach culture, went to Peru, and experimented with DMT.

While there, fell in love with a Shaman who was really a plumber from Padstow, but stayed because of attachment issues.

After following a raven out of the jungle, I holed up in a Scandi-style Air B’n’B and finally got enlightened.

Parts of this story are true.

Am I psychic?

Am I psychic?

Mainstream religion and the New Age actively sell the idea psychic ability exists outside of you, or only to a (chosen by them) few. This is a lie. Being psychic is part of being human, so ‘Am I psychic?” YES!
